Single-Phase Motors

Motors for single-phase supplies

Single-phase motors drive small pumps, fans and light machinery where only a 240 V supply is available. NPE supplies capacitor-start and capacitor-run motors with the correct protection for the duty.

We match the motor to the load and provide the starting arrangement, overload protection and cabling for a reliable single-phase drive.

24/7 Emergency Support

Electrical service you can count on

When single-phase motor equipment fails, you need fast, reliable help from experienced engineers. We offer around-the-clock emergency support across Nairobi and East Africa — keeping your plant safe and powered, day or night. Whether it is an urgent breakdown or a scheduled repair, our team is ready to respond whenever you need us.

Frequently asked questions

When should I use three-phase instead?
Above a few kW a three-phase motor is more efficient and reliable; single-phase suits small loads on a 240 V supply.
What is the FLC?
Higher per kW than three-phase because of the single-phase supply; the calculator on this page returns it.
Capacitor start or run?
Capacitor-start for high starting torque, capacitor-run for smoother running and better efficiency; often both.
Can it be reversed?
Many single-phase motors can be reversed by swapping the start-winding connection; we confirm per motor.
