Our History

Since 1974

Nairobi Power Engineers was founded in 1974, in the same Industrial Area neighbourhood we occupy today. What began as an electrical supplies business grew, customer by customer, into one of Kenya’s established names in low-voltage power distribution and motor control.

From counter to workshop

The trading counter taught us what installations actually need — and what fails. That knowledge moved us up the value chain: first assembling starters and small boards for customers who wanted more than parts, then building complete distribution boards and motor control centres to order in our own workshop at 27 Baricho Road.

The engineering era

As Kenyan industry formalised, so did we. NPE adopted the IEC 61439 low-voltage assembly standards as our build baseline, added documented design, factory testing and quality control, and grew a service organisation to survey, maintain and modernise the installed base — not just supply it.
