Is a worm drive self-locking?

High ratios tend to be self-locking, but it must not be relied on for safety without a brake; we confirm per unit.

Why is efficiency lower?

Sliding contact in worm gearing loses more than rolling helical contact; expect more heat on continuous duty.

Continuous or intermittent?

Worm drives suit intermittent duty well; for continuous high-power drives helical is often better.

Can it drive a conveyor?
