Low Voltage Power Cables

Nairobi Power Engineers stocks and supplies single-core and multi-core Low Voltage (LV) power cables rated 600/1000 V (0.6/1 kV) manufactured in full accordance with British Standards BS 5467, BS 6724, and IEC 60502-1. Our cables are engineered for heavy commercial mains feeds, transformer-to-switchboard tails, and industrial motor risers.

Featuring Class 2 stranded plain annealed copper or high-grade aluminium conductors insulated with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), our power cables offer superior current-carrying capacity, high short-circuit thermal withstand, and excellent chemical resistance.

FAQs
Standard cable tables assume a 30°C ambient air temperature. In hot plant rooms (e.g. 40°C–50°C), derating factors of 0.91 to 0.82 must be applied according to BS 7671 to prevent overheating.
For long, high-amperage underground feeder runs (e.g. 185 mm² to 300 mm²), aluminium cables offer substantial material cost savings (up to 40%) despite requiring a larger cross-section to carry the same current.
