Single-phase, three-phase and CT-operated metering arrangements, specified for your project

Meter Boards & Metering Panels — engineering concept

Meter boards for project requirements

Metering boards need to match the supply, tenant arrangement and utility connection design. The references below distinguish single-phase group-metering cabinets, three-phase group-metering cabinets and CT-operated metering switchboards.

The enclosure references are from Australian manufacturers and use IEC-aligned assembly practices rather than North American socket-meter layouts. They illustrate board configuration only. NPE confirms the Kenyan utility requirements and verification scope for each proposed assembly.

Single-Phase Group-Metering Boards

Hager VYGMS6W shows an Australian six-way prewired single-phase group-metering enclosure, with tenant protection and meter wiring positions. Revenue meters are not supplied in the pictured cabinet. Kenya utility spacing, sealing and incoming arrangements are confirmed for each project.

Three-Phase Group-Metering Boards

Hager VYGMV3W-3P shows an Australian prewired cabinet for three three-phase meter positions. It is a metering-board reference, not an ABB main-switchboard lineup. Revenue meters and final Kenyan utility configuration are selected separately.

CT-Metering Switchboard & Separate Chambers

DSD CT-630 shows an Australian CT-metering switchboard with separate meter, CT and main-switch compartments. DSD describes AS 61439.1 / .2 assembly testing. The CT-630 model name does not establish a 630 A rating or Kenyan utility approval.

Kenyan configurationConfirm utility drawings, meter footprint, sealing, incomer, neutral and earthing arrangements before manufacture. Australian references are not KPLC approvals.
Assembly standardSpecify the applicable IEC 61439 part and verification for the actual supplied assembly. AS/NZS references show an IEC-aligned enclosure approach.
Meter supplyRevenue meters, private meters and communication modules are separately defined in the approved schedule.
ProtectionSelect current, fault performance, residual-current protection and isolation from the design; not from the photograph.

Engineering & Build Highlights

  • Confirm the utility meter footprint and mounting dimensions against the approved drawings
  • Segregated utility metering chamber and tenant breaker chamber prevent unauthorized power tapping
  • Test Terminal Blocks (TTB) with voltage disconnect links and CT shorting links fitted on all CT panels
  • High-grade transparent polycarbonate viewing windows allow meter reading without opening main doors
  • Generous cabling gutter spaces with removable aluminium gland plates for heavy incoming armoured cables
  • Earthing terminal bar bonded directly to enclosure chassis with dedicated external earth stud

Target Applications & Sectors

Residential apartment blocks & gated estate developmentsCommercial office towers & retail shopping mallsIndustrial godowns & warehouse parksEducational university campuses & student hostelsMixed-use developments with retail & residential tenantsManufacturing plants with KPLC tariff boundary metering
We prepare the arrangement against the project requirements and the utility’s current connection instructions. Confirm meter spacing, sealing, CT details where applicable and inspection requirements before manufacture. The Australian reference images do not establish KPLC approval or an inspection-time guarantee.
Private submetering can be included in the proposed design. Confirm direct or CT connection, accuracy, communications, tenant circuits and any billing requirements for the exact selected instrument.
