Helical Geared Motors

Coaxial inline helical speed reducers delivering 98% mechanical efficiency and extreme shock resistance

Overview

Inline Helical Geared Motors

For industrial applications requiring high mechanical efficiency, continuous heavy-duty operation, and coaxial alignment, Inline Helical Geared Motors are the premier solution. Nairobi Power Engineers stocks and assembles modular helical gear units from 0.12 kW to 160 kW with output torque up to 18,000 Nm.

Featuring case-hardened helical gear pairs with ground tooth profiles, single-piece rigid cast iron housings, and normalized IEC B5/B14 motor input flanges, our helical gear units operate silently with over 96% efficiency across 2-stage and 3-stage reductions.

Key Features

Engineering & Build Highlights

  • Helical gear tooth geometry provides continuous rolling contact for whisper-quiet operation under heavy load
  • Single-piece monobloc cast iron housing (GG20/GG25) guarantees precise gear alignment and high rigidity
  • Hardened and profile-ground teeth (DIN 3962 Class 6) minimize friction losses and eliminate gear wear
  • High overhung load (OHL) radial capacity on the output shaft accommodates heavy chain and belt drives
  • Universal mounting: reversible casing with mounting feet on bottom, top, or sides plus B5 output flanges
  • Supplied with oil level sight glass, breather plug, and magnetic oil drain plug

FAQs
Helical gears transmit torque through rolling contact between tooth flanks (resulting in 98% efficiency per stage), whereas worm gears transmit power through sliding friction (resulting in 65-80% efficiency and generating more heat).
When filled with premium synthetic polyalphaolefin (PAO) gear oil (ISO VG 220), oil changes are required only every 15,000 to 20,000 operating hours (approx. 3 to 4 years of continuous industrial duty).
